Whether you’re stepping into the navigator role or want to support navigation onboard at a higher level, this course gives you a solid, repeatable framework to prepare, plan, and perform.

Interactive Small-Group Learning
All sessions are taught live in a cohort of max. 15 sailors. This format ensures plenty of space for questions and personalised feedback.

This course is designed for ambitious sailors who want to get into offshore sailing or take their offshore navigation skills to the next level. It’s ideal if you’re stepping into the navigator role for the first time, supporting a navigator onboard, or looking to build a stronger, more structured understanding of offshore navigation.
The course is not aimed at seasoned professional navigators.No expert background required, just motivation to learn and improve.

No. If you already have access to Expedition, that’s great. If not, we’ve got you covered.
For the duration of the course, we’ll arrange a 4-week trial license, so you can fully participate in all exercises without needing to purchase the software upfront. -
Yes. All four live sessions will be recorded and shared exclusively with course participants. You’ll have access to the recordings for 6 months after the course, so you can revisit key concepts or catch up if you miss a session.

After completing the course, you’ll have a solid foundation in offshore race navigation and a clear understanding of how navigators prepare, think, and make decisions before and during a race.
You’ll be able to:
Prepare a structured navigation plan for an offshore race
Use Expedition confidently for routing, strategy, and weather analysis
Interpret forecasts, routing outputs, and onboard observations more effectively

Support the navigator — or step into the role on less complex races
